Placenta Remedies and
I first came across Placenta Encapsulation when I saw a stall from placenta remedies network at a parenting conference back in 2012. I picked up a leaflet but wasn’t really intrigued as I felt squeamish about the idea of consuming my placenta. Fast forward a year, I gave birth to my second baby and had my placenta encapsulated! I researched the subject thoroughly and decided that I definitely wanted to benefit from my placenta. My main aim was to prevent postnatal depression (PND) while my second was to have more energy.
In early 2017, I first completed the Paranama Doula Course with Dr. Michel Odent (who I had met at the aforementioned parenting conference) and Liliana Lammers with the aim of supporting expectant and new mothers in their birth & mothering journey. Subsequently, I trained with IPEN (Independent Placenta Encapsulation Network) to become a certified Placenta Remedies Specialist.
Having had no family or support around after my first birth - and having most probably suffered from undiagnosed PND a year later - I knew that I needed and wanted some help the second time round. As we also needed childcare for when I went into labour, we decided to get an Aupair. We found a wonderful young lady from Germany who stayed with us for 2 months. It made all the difference having someone around and I'll be forever grateful. I feel very passionate about mothering the mother, so that the mother can mother her baby. It takes a village to raise a child. And this is especially true for the first few weeks and months after birth.
And last but not least, I’m also a Weleda Wellbeing Advisor offering advice and demonstrations on the Natural and Organic cosmetics range from Weleda, either through 1:1 consultations or Wellbeing Events with groups. My own babies are Weleda babies and they’re great advocates as they’re learning very early as to why it is important to only put non-toxic products on our skin.
